The past few months are pretty difficult for all of us, while we are stranded in our houses from the last few months, The whole world around us has changed. One of the major affected industries in this course is the hospitality, food & beverage. With people restricted to gather and come outside, It seems that the industry seems to be at risk in a foreseeable future.

Although Restaurants are not allowed to operate, and banquets function seems to be on hold till the situation gets neutralize, it’s getting difficult for people to get good hygienic food, Since the government has declared the mandate to start the home delivery of food lot of people are avoiding it considering the hygiene and quality risks. To solve this issue, The Emerald Park hotel has come up with a specially curated takeaway/delivery menu. The idea is to offer combos that are suitable for a family of 4-6 people. The menus consist of regional specializes from Indian states and a few classics.

We recently had the opportunity to taste their menu. It was a meal for the whole family of 4, for dinner. The delivery was made by a two people team in a van instead of a bike, Both the delivery personnel had the protective gears on. The food was packed and sealed in an airtight container with labels on each of them. Which was quite convenient as had ordered veg & non-vegeterian meal.

The menu had Murgh Shahi Korma, Muradabadi Murgh Biryani, Rogani Murgh Masala, Sabji Dum handi and Pujabi Dal Tadka with accompaniment of Chapatis, Jeera rice and Salad. The food was indeed a treat to eyes and the aroma of Murgh Shahi Korma was quite appetising.

Murgh Shahi Korma which was personally the best out of all the preparation had a nice subtle aroma of kewra and was finished off with saffron. The chicken was very well cooked and tender, the base had nice consistency due to the generous use of yogurt and dry fruits. Murshidabad biryani was a slightly different variation of biryani which we used to get commonly in Maharashtra, the roots of this biryani belong to Murshidabad Kolkatta and biryani is know for its subtleness and use of eggs alongside the chicken. Unlike regular biryani, Murshidabad biryani is quite less with excessive voices, oil, and red chilies. The aromatic spices and ghee used for cooking are what make it special.

The second main course was murgh rogani masala, It was a variation of chicken curry. Rogan means oil or fat and as the name suggests it had nice Rogan on top of the curry with a semi-thick curry made with spices and yogurt, With the bright red color and aromas it got paired nicely with chapatis. The Vegetarian course which I had to taste was decent and to the point. However I was so full of the meat I couldn’t do justice with veg dishes, but I ended my meal with a small serving of jeera rice and Punjabi dal tadka, But I definitely love to their taste their veg dishes soon as well.

Another great part of this meal was the neat packing which really was leak-proof, storage-friendly and perfect name labels were very useful. With restaurant seems to be out of the dining business for some time it seems that we have to be feasting again with The Emerald Park Soon. Till then let us know about your feedback in the comment section.

SulaFest 2021 Cancelled in View of Safety of Festgoers

As you all may have heard, Nashik’s pride SulaFest organised by Sula Vineyards each year on the first weekend on February stands cancelled for the year 2021.

SulaFest has become one of the greatest weekend festivals in the country and Sula as well as the overall city of Nashik is very proud of what has been accomplished in the last 14 years. However, for the first time since it started out 15 years ago the festival will be taking a break in February 2021.

Confirming the news, Sula Vineyards’ CEO & Founder Rajeev Samant said, “We have had a beautiful festival for 14 years without incident. We don’t want to spoil that perfect record. Much better to ride out one year and come back with an even bigger bang rather than take a risk this year. It’s not the year to do things with big crowds and we need to first think of the safety of our guests.

We are an international festival and this year bringing international acts will be almost impossible. We’ve always prided ourselves on bringing really interesting international acts that haven’t played in India before. But basically, this is not the year for big music festivals, in India and internationally. We are the first to take this decision but for sure we will not be the last.

We take this call with a heavy heart but we feel it makes total sense. See you all in 2022!”

Address: Shop no 3, Model Colony Chowk, Yashwant Colony, D’souza Colony, Nashik, Maharashtra 422005

We hope you all are doing fine, We are writing back after a long break, Unfortunately, the last few months have been extremely crazy for all of us. The pandemic has changed our lives. From work to travel, and our habits have gone through some unforeseen circumstances. The silver lining to this situation is things seem to be getting back on track slowly.

This past few months have been adversely affected the restaurant and dining industry, Due to the safety issue, all of us refrain to eat outside for a while. But after roughly about six to eight months of a halt and after governments’ guidelines restaurants have slowly started serving their patrons. Since restaurants are open and people here are craving for some scrumptious meals we decided to pen down a few places which should think everyone must try.

Although the industry was on a brief hiatus, a lot of brands utilized this time to reinvent their strategies and have come up with exciting menus and offerings. One such place we really want to bring up is Pizzology, started roughly a year ago in Banglore, this place is a brainchild of Prajakta, After their successful career in the airline industry, she got an idea to start a Naples style pizzeria in India during her trip to Europe.

Pizzology has been inspired by small wood fire oven eateries spread across Italy and Europe which serves authentic pizzas. Miles away from their commercial counterparts these eateries generally sell family-style unique recipes that are heavily inspired by the local culture. Pizzology is trying to do the same thing here in India with its newly open outlets.

The menu here is divided into pizzas, bread, pasta, and cold press juices. Currently, they are serving both the veg as well as non-vegetarian cuisines. The process of making pizzas has been kept exactly the same as you get in authentic eateries. All the pizzas are made in a 9-inch base, with an option to upgrade to a 12-inch base.

We tried their chicken double wave pizzas which has two different chicken toppings with jalapeño, tomatoes & olives. All the pizzas can be customised with prior preferences also. The base is thin crust and can be upgraded to a cheese one.

We liked the food and experience and really looking for a next visit to try their other pizzas, till then visit the outlet and try their pizzas and let us know your feedback.

India’s leading winery Sula Vineyards has announced its merger with family-owned Nashik-based York Winery which will soon become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sula.

Rajeev Samant, founder CEO of Sula Vineyards, said the merger is a triple win — for York, Sula and wine consumers. “Smaller wineries find it very difficult to get distribution, and the pandemic has been a big blow. Sula will help York get a wider distribution and continue the great winemaking tradition of the Gurnani family with Kapil Gurnani continuing as winemaker and brand ambassador,” he said.

The York Winery label rights have also been sold to Sula. “We will also be able to expand our hospitality operations across the road to our neighbour York, thus boosting Nashik’s wine tourism offerings. And there are synergies to be had from combining some operations. Consumers benefit from seeing more York brands on more shelves across the country, expanding consumer choice. It’s a great fit overall,” Samant said.

Sula, the largest Indian winery, enjoys over a 65% market and has been the biggest in India in terms of wine tourism, attracting nearly four lakh wine tourists every year, including over 15,000 visitors to the two-day annual SulaFest. When the lockdown was eased earlier this year, Sula Vineyards had reported 95% occupancy at its 51-room resort.

Ravi Gurnani, director, York Winery, did not go into details of the merger, but said the York brand will continue to grow. “The merger will give our brand a wider distribution reach and expand our market,” he said.

The deal will also mean Sula can use York’s facility, which has a tasting room and restaurant, for wine tourism. The winery has a production capacity of 400,000 litres.

Kolhapuri is undoubtedly the crown of Maharashtrian Cooking, Having a royal influence the food is prepared from a blend of spices which give a very aromatic and fine touch. Kolhapuri food which is often considered very spicy is in fact not very spicy at all. Made with local spices and flavors the food has a distinct taste that standouts from other preparations.  The Kolhapuri Food festival at The Gateway Hotel is an attempt to spread this often unnoticed food amongst their patrons. The festival has been laid out in collaboration with Padma guest house. A Kolhapur-based resort that was started by the Royal family.

The food festival is offering Kolhapuri Thalis and a few starters. Kolhapuri thali is a feast served across the Kolhapur region which consists Meat Curry, Meat Fry, Kolhapuri Pulav, Roti, Sol Kadhi, and Tamda & Pandhra rassa which is a main highlight of the Kolhapuri cuisine. Tamda & Pandra rassa are basically a thin soups made which meat stock. Tamda rassa is finely and spicy whereas Pandhara rassa is full of subtle flavors and has coconut milk as a base.  Curry and Fry are made which choice of meat i.e. Chicken, Mutton or Sea Food. The base consists of fresh coconut and ground spices. Food can be finished with a chilled glass of Sol Kadhi, Which is a concoction of Kokam juice and Coconut milk. Solkadhi is considered as coolest which balances the spicy flavors of the thali.

The Festival will also have some famous Preparation from the royal kitchen of Kolhapur which includes Mutton Lonche, Bharli Komdi, Goli Pulav, etc. The Menu is essentially crafted by the cooks of the same royal family and resembles the same taste which is offered at Padma Guest house Kolhapur.
